Effective date: July 22, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Sejal Learning Systems (“My G.R.I.T. Academy,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, shares, and protects your personal data when you use the mygritacademy.com website, our courses, and related services (the “Services”). It also explains the choices and rights you have. By using the Services, you agree to the practices described here.
The short version: we collect what we need to run a learning platform — your account details, your purchase record, and your course activity. Your course activity is recorded as learning records in a Learning Record Store that we operate ourselves. We use all of this to deliver your courses, save your progress, and improve the Services. We do not sell your personal data.
1. What Data We Collect
1.1 Data You Provide to Us
Depending on how you use the Services, we collect:
- Account data — the username, email address, and password you enter when you register. There is no email confirmation step, so we do not separately verify your address at sign-up.
- Profile data — any optional details you choose to add to your profile.
- Payment data — when you buy a course or the bundle, our payment processor Stripe collects your card details directly. We never store your full card number. We keep a record of what you bought, when, the amount, and whether the payment succeeded or was refunded.
- Content you submit — your responses to interactive exercises and widgets inside lessons.
- Communications — emails and messages you exchange with us, including support requests.
1.2 Data We Collect Automatically
- Learning records — see Section 2 below, which describes this collection in detail.
- Usage and device data — IP address, browser type, operating system, pages visited, referring pages, and timestamps, collected through server logs and cookies.
- Approximate location — derived from your IP address, used for things like tax calculation and security. We do not collect precise GPS location.
1.3 Data From Third Parties
We receive limited data from the providers that help us run the Services — for example, payment confirmation and refund status from Stripe, and delivery status from our email provider.
2. Learning Records (xAPI)
My G.R.I.T. Academy records what you do inside a course as learning records, using the xAPI (Experience API) standard. We want to be explicit about this, because it is a form of data collection that not every website has.
2.1 What is recorded
- which lessons you open and view, and which you complete;
- the responses you give to interactive widgets and exercises inside lessons, including text you type into them;
- the course and lesson each record relates to, and the date and time it happened;
- an identifier for your account, so the record can be linked back to you.
There are currently no quizzes, graded assessments, or certificates on the platform, so no scores or grades are recorded.
2.2 Where it is stored and who operates it
These records are sent to a Learning Record Store (LRS) operated by Sejal Learning Systems — the same company that operates My G.R.I.T. Academy — at lrs.sejalsolutions.com. The LRS is not a third-party analytics product and we do not hand your learning records to an outside analytics company. Access to the LRS is restricted to Sejal Learning Systems staff who need it to run and support the platform.
2.3 Why we record it
- to save your progress and show you where you left off;
- to give you back your own responses to exercises within a course;
- to answer your support questions about your progress;
- to understand, in aggregate, which lessons work well and which need improvement.
We do not use learning records for advertising, and we do not sell them.
3. Cookies & Similar Technologies
Like most online services, we use cookies and similar technologies to make the Services work and to understand how they’re used:
- Essential cookies — keep you logged in, remember your session, and protect against fraud. The Services don’t work without them.
- Functional cookies — remember preferences such as your position in a course and interface settings.
- Analytics cookies — help us understand which pages and lessons are used so we can improve the platform.
Stripe may also set cookies during checkout to process your payment and prevent fraud. You can control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking or deleting them. Blocking essential cookies will prevent core features like login from working. We do not use cross-site advertising trackers.
4. How We Use Your Data
We use your data to:
- provide the Services — create and manage your account, give you access to the courses you bought, and save your progress;
- process one-time payments and refunds, and prevent fraud;
- respond to your questions and provide learner support;
- send service communications (receipts, access details, security alerts) and, with your consent or as permitted by law, marketing emails you can opt out of at any time;
- analyze and improve the Services, using aggregated or de-identified data wherever possible;
- enforce our Terms of Service, comply with legal obligations, and protect the safety of our learners and platform.
5. Who We Share Your Data With
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with third parties for their own advertising. We share data only as follows:
- Stripe — our payment processor. Stripe receives the payment details you enter at checkout and the amount of the transaction, and processes them as an independent controller under its own privacy policy.
- Hosting and infrastructure providers — the companies that host the website, its database, and its backups on our behalf, under contract, and only to provide services to us.
- Our Learning Record Store — operated by Sejal Learning Systems at lrs.sejalsolutions.com, as described in Section 2. This is our own infrastructure, not a third-party recipient.
- Email delivery provider — so we can send you receipts, account notices, and support replies.
- Legal and safety — when required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or when necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of our learners, our company, or the public.
- Business transfers — if we’re involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction; we’ll notify you of any change in ownership or use of your personal data.
6. Security
We take appropriate security measures to protect your personal data, including encryption in transit (HTTPS), hardened server configurations, access controls, and monitoring against unauthorized access. No system is 100% secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security — please use a strong, unique password and let us know immediately at ownyourgrit@gmail.com if you suspect unauthorized access to your account. If a breach affecting your personal data occurs, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.
7. Your Rights & Choices
7.1 Access, Update, Delete
You can view and update most of your account information from your profile settings. You may also request a copy of the personal data we hold about you — including your learning records — ask us to correct inaccurate data, or request deletion of your account and associated personal data by emailing ownyourgrit@gmail.com. We’ll respond within a reasonable timeframe and honor your request except where we must keep certain records, for example purchase records we are required to retain for tax and accounting purposes. Deleting your account also deletes or de-identifies your learning records in our Learning Record Store.
7.2 Marketing Choices
You can opt out of marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any marketing message or by contacting us. You’ll still receive essential service emails, such as receipts and security notices.
7.3 Jurisdiction-Specific Rights
Depending on where you live (for example, California, the EEA, or the UK), you may have additional rights, such as data portability, restriction of processing, objection to processing, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. We honor valid requests to exercise these rights regardless of jurisdiction — contact us and we’ll help.
8. Children
My G.R.I.T. Academy is a personal development platform for adults and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16, and learners under 18 may use the platform only under a parent or guardian’s account and supervision as described in our Terms of Service. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us at ownyourgrit@gmail.com and we’ll delete it.
9. International Users
The Services are operated from the United States, and your data — including your learning records — is processed and stored on servers located in the United States. If you use the Services from outside the U.S., you understand that your data will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., where data protection laws may differ from those in your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
10. Data Retention
We keep your personal data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Services. Because course access is a lifetime one-time purchase, your account and its learning records normally remain in place until you ask us to delete them. After you delete your account, we delete or de-identify your personal data — account details, submitted responses, and learning records — within a reasonable period, except where we need to retain it to comply with legal obligations (such as tax and accounting rules for purchase records), resolve disputes, or enforce agreements. Server logs are kept for a limited period for security and troubleshooting. Aggregated, de-identified learning analytics that no longer identify you may be retained for research and product improvement.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make a material change, we’ll notify you by email or by a prominent notice on the site before the change takes effect. The effective date at the top tells you when this policy was last revised. Your continued use of the Services after the effective date means you accept the updated policy.
